About the program |
Program missionThe Brookline High School Program in Social Justice Leadership aims to cultivate life-long leaders for social justice. Students will identify a social justice mission, and find and amplify their moral voice in service of that mission.
The Program emphasizes collective rather than individual responses to injustice, and transformative rather than temporary relief from social problems. It strives to be an authentic educational experience, emphasizing learning beyond the classroom walls and testing those ideas in 'real world' conditions. The Program in Social Justice Leadership provides a powerful antidote to cynicism about the power of youth, and works to combat rigorous individualism that erodes civic engagement. The program was created in response to a growing demand by students who want to work for social justice as well as a growing faculty interest to strengthen student accountability for their community and to build a culture of service and activism. The Program is open to Junior and Senior students. Click here when you are ready to apply--but we encourage you to review the Curriculum Overview and Expectations and Credit before you do. |
