Summer Social Justice Programs
Chinese Progressive Association: CYI hosts a seven week paid summer internship that provides high school students with the opportunity to learn about and make a difference in the Chinese American community in Boston. The internship covers issues such as worker rights, community stabilization, immigrant rights, and political empowerment. With each topic, interns learn about the history, explore their personal connection, and take action to improve the conditions for the community. Youth in our program have left with life long friendships and empowered to make change.
Sub/Urban Justice and City School Summer Leadership Program: A fantastic summer immersion into exploring racism and activism among peers from across Boston. Follow the footsteps of many BHS students who have worked with Sub/Urban Justice.
The Food Project: Seed Crew: Work with diverse group of peers from across the Boston area to grow food and build a sustainable food movement. This is a seven week summer opportunity for youth to grow produce on urban and suburban farms while developing civic engagement and teamwork skills in a diverse setting. During seven weeks, the crew works together to grow vegetables sustainably and distribute thousands of pounds of produce while developing important leadership, teamwork, diversity, and civic participation skills.
